On tonight's broadcast, we focus on modern slavery and human trafficking in the United States but is in no way limited to the United States. Other countries are complicit in today's slave trade just like those responsible for the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. Today kicked off the national strikes against prison slavery in the United States and while prisoners here are protesting, so are prisoners in Kenya who are protesting their brutal inhumane treatment. This and more news tonight on BTR News w/ Scotty Reid.

Tonight on BTR News we will tackle the topic of forced school busing that has historically uprooted and disproportionately impacted black students and resources diverted away from predominately black communities towards schools in predominately white communities, just like during the days of Jim Crow school segregation. We will have a roundtable report from three panelists are opposed to similar actions in Crete Monee Community Unit School District 201U, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. Cynthia Hudson-the original Plaintiff in the Consent Decree case, both Black Trustees of the Monee Township school board members Mo Brown and DR. Nakia Hall.
A Press Release says,
At The District 201U Committee of the Whole Meeting held on Tuesday, August 15th, 2018, District Business Manager Kenneth Surma announced his intentions to move forward with the demolition of the 6th Grade Center using all of the 2-million dollars of cash-on-hand currently held by the District, an action that is a precursor to the closing of Coretta Scott King International Baccalaureate Magnet School in University Park and Talala Elementary School in Park Forest in favor of Grade Centers being constructed in the white neighboring towns of Crete and Monee that will require Black students to be bused to elementary schools from University Park and Park Forest. Such a move would constitute a violation of the, now expired. University Park Consent Decree of nineteen-ninety-eight , where the court found that University Park students bore the burden of being bused out of their communities, disproportionally.
As a result of the racially disproportionate busing of students,
The Crete Monee High School is a part of the Board of Education School District 201-U that has been under Consent Decree since 1998 for “establish(ing), maintain(ing) and enforc(ing) attendance units, attendance policies and practices, and a one-way busing scheme which as had a disparate impact upon African-American community of University Park.’ read more

Tonight on BTR News we will be speaking with Marty Jewel, a three Richmond City Council member, 45 years as a Black Business owner who is also a Human & Civil Rights activist. Mr. Jewel is also a US military veteran where he served as an MP and a regular panelist on the Tanya Free & Friends Talk Show syndicated on Black Talk Radio. We will discuss issues surrounding how police are trained vs how members of the military are trained in the use of force. Police on average injure or kill 51,000 people annually in the United States according to a study of people treated in hospitals as a result of injuries sustained in police encounters. This violence is not always justified and in many cases, it is completely unnecessary and in addition to the health care costs for these injuries, taxpayers are paying millions out to victims of police violence. US soldiers in war zones have stricter rules of engaging the civilian population than do the police in the United States.
California is tackling the issue in the form of Assembly Bill 931, "the Police Accountability and Community Protection Act, would allow officers to use lethal force only when “necessary” to “prevent imminent and serious bodily injury or death” to an officer or bystander, and when there are no “reasonable” nonlethal alternatives—a Taser, for example".

Tune in today as I continue to speak out against those who enable the messengers of hate while claiming to be against the very things the messengers of hate advocate for against targeted groups. Let us also discuss Big Social Media and Corporate dependency on those platforms by those who rail against Big Social Media and Corporations instead of building and maintaining their own platforms and working with other platform builders to exchange internet traffic. Last week I discussed the senseless violence in the Black community and talked about solutions to get the street gangs to stop the violence towards one another and the communities they live in. Today, I am happy to report a little good news on that front. That and more on BTR News tonight at 6 pm est!

Tune in to BTR News at 6 pm EST for some of the day's news and commentary. Today I will discuss the reactionary behavior of some on the left who are basically defending Alex Jones's supposed right to spread BS conspiracy theories, defame people, spread religious bigotry and engage in a codified form of racism/white supremacy. In war, some of the goals of the military is to disrupt your enemies communications, destroy his ability to disseminate propaganda, to communicate with his troops in the field so how much sense does it make for those on the ideological left to make half-baked arguments in defense of Jone's supposed free speech rights on private platforms?
This and more news tonight!

Singer Eric Benét started a conversation on the harmful lyrics in rap music and charges rappers with promoting misogyny, glorifying materialism, drug abuse and black on black violence.
In an Instagram post this week Benét said,
“Rap Artist, if all you rap about is killing black people, degrading Black women, abusing drugs, materialization,, living a low life, you are not an artist, you are a Black face for white supremacy. You are being used to help destroy your own people.”
Many people on Instagram agreed with Benét and others disagreed, particularly the rappers who felt stung by his commentary with some even resorting to personal attacks bringing up his past marital problems.
There is scientific evidence to back up Malcolm X's theory that media controls the minds of the masses. There is no denying it and anyone offended by this truth and can not see or refuse to recognize the harmful impact on the community by the type of "rap" Benét singles out, in my opinion, the detractors fit into one or two camps, possibly both. Rappers profiting from the degenerate lyrics or those too ignorant to have a constructive dialogue around the issue. Lupe Fiasco, a rapper who has talked about the harmful images and lyrics in rap music got a similar pushback when he brought up the issue years ago.
I don’t expect rappers who have no problem promoting this type of content to the community to be responsible adults capable of understanding the issue. How intellectually deep can someone be who raps about killing n-words, selling dope and disrespectful to women? Maybe some of them are capable and understand exactly the impact their music is having on society but choose to ignore any consciousness they may have and give in to their lower self for paychecks from the industry. In other words, they are willfully selling out.
The radio stations that play this harmful content and those who advertise on those stations could exclude hateful, violent and misogynistic tracks from their playlists anytime they choose but without a community-wide boycott and campaign, they will continue to broadcast these negative self-hating messages to the community and members of the community will act accordingly to the programming they are receiving. It is a shame to say but there are many weak minded individuals in our communities susceptible to the programming.
I spoke with Kwabena Rasuli of Clear The Airwaves Project which aims to kill the killer radio programming fed to the Black community through FCC licensed radio stations, about Mr. Benét’s post.
In conclusion, I don’t think it is accurate to say these rappers are agents of White Supremacy which is a buzzword used all too often in my opinion but they are certainly agents of destruction, self-hate, and negativity in the community.

BTR News - Former intelligence officials that appear on news programs have come under fire for pushing Russian collusion stories to the American public and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul wants them to have their security clearance is revoked for fear that they are leaking classified information in highly partisan appearances on news networks and some have been profiting handsomely from their public service and security clearances that give them access to classified government documents.
Considering most people who leave government service lose their security clearances after two years unless they obtain employment with government contractors that require a security clearance, it is questionable whether or not retired intelligence officials who appear as Talking Heads in the news media should retain those clearances.
MSNBC a prolific promoter of the Trump Russia collusion conspiracy theory try to defend those clearances by saying that former officials are still consulted by those working in their former agencies. that means that these people are not really retired and should be considered intelligence agency assets working in the news media to push propaganda on behalf of the deep state. It was only a few years ago that former LA Time reporter Ken Dilanian who now works for the AP was outed for seeking to clear stories with the CIA prior to publication.
These activities are right in line with the FBI's Cointelpro media operations against Black and left-leaning activists and organizations during the 1950's, 60's and 70s and Operation Mockingbird which was a large-scale program of the CIA that began in the early 1950s that manipulated news media for propaganda purposes. Mockingbird became the subject of Congressional hearings in the 1970s. Senator Rand Paul is right, retired officials who retain security clearances are security risks. Trump should but probably won't heed his advice.

Today our main topic is racist and religious bigots in government. One racist, who is a member of the Georgia State House of Representatives named Jason Spencer just got exposed on the Showtime series Who Is America? He is seen on video pretending to cut the off a "terrorist" and then takes a bite out of the fake . This straight out the book "THE DELECTABLE NEGRO: Human Consumption and Homoeroticism within US Slave Culture" by Vincent Woodard.
Before getting into the main topic about the American consumption of non-white bodies we will take a look at some of the news headlines of the day.

BTR News - Papa John founder John Schnatter resigned as Chairman of the Board of the pizza franchise after comments he made in a conference call angered other board members. He now regrets resigning and claims he did not use the N-word in a negative way when making comments about KFC founder Col Sanders not facing backlash for using the word as a slur against Black people.
However, that is not the most appalling thing Schnatter said on the call first reported by Forbes and every article I have read about the call on other outlets including the black targeted The Root are leaving out Schnatter’s claims that African Americans were dragged to their deaths behind trucks in his hometown of Jeffersonville, Indiana. Schnatter did not say what time period these murders occurred but considering he was born in 1961, one could assume it could have been during the 70s or 80s and possibly beyond.
Why news outlets are seeking to white out his comments about the murders of Black people is something they can only answer but since there is not a statute of limitations on murders or civil rights violations, it seems that Schnatter should be answering questions from law enforcement about those murders. To date not even Jeffersonville officials or local civil rights groups like the NAACP are raising the questions surrounded Schnatter’s knowledge of racially motivated murders.
The lack of attention paid to this issue is very troublesome when we know that many of the murders and lynchings of Black Americans have gone uninvestigated even though many of the perpetrators are still walking around among us possibly sporting Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again apparel. Justice demands an investigation.
