By Scotty T. Reid - The day after presidential candidate US Senator Bernie Sanders appeared in the DNC debates hosted by ABC/Univision, the unapologetic Democratic Socialist participated in a Latino voter townhall where he answered questions related to Trump's current immigration policies and where he stands in relation to other candidates vying for the DNC nomination.
However the previous night, Sanders appeared on the debate stage with nine other candidates at the HBCU Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Jorge Gilberto Ramos Ávalos who goes by the stage name Jorge Ramos, a Mexican-born American journalist and author who works for Univision was afforded space as a moderator in the debate. Ramos seemed to single out Sen. Sanders for a question in asking Sen. Sanders in an accusatory tone if he considered the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro a "socialist dictator".
Ramos in his "question" to Sanders on if Maduro was a socialist dictator, the Univision journalist front-loaded the question with assertions that the target of Donald Trump's plot to bring about regime change in Venezuela was disappearing, torturing and killing people.
Sander's astutely recognized what Ramos attempted to do and began his answer by declaring what his democratic vision of socialism entails which includes a litany of human rights the senator ticked off. Sanders then declares that anyone engaged in human rights abuses is a tyrant without naming Maduro and then suggested that multiple nations in the region must work together to resolve the human rights crisis that is occurring in Venezuela.
The non-profit media organization Democracy Now provided a clip of the exchange with context from journalist Juan Gonzales who put Ramos's question in its proper political context.

Speaking to a group of Latin American voters in Las Vegas the very next day, Sander's repeated his assertion that solving Latin America's problems will take a coalition of nations rejecting the US policy of unilateral regime change. However, Sanders was brutally honest about US foreign policy in Latin America and why people risk their lives to leave their homes and migrate to the United States.

Sanders named the white supremacist Monroe Doctrine as a contributor to mass migration out of nations south of the US border. The Monroe Doctrine was and some would say still is the United States foreign policy of opposing European colonialism in the Americas in the early 1800s so that it could colonize those countries and allow US corporations to exploit the people, the land and their resources. Sanders mentioned the Nixon administration's overthrow of President Salvador Allende in 1970 who was democratically elected in Chile as an example.
When it comes to human rights, Sen. Bernie Sanders's platform stands above that of the rest of the Democratic field and thus far the only candidate with the guts to acknowledge US foreign policy as a destabilizing force around the world that is forcing people to flee their homelands in search of safety.
As far as Ramos's questions concerning torture, the current POTUS, Donald Trump ran a 2016 campaign blatantly endorsing the use of torture and one would assume as POTUS, has given the green light to US intelligence agencies to resume use of their torture techniques.

It was Sen. Bernie Sanders who stood on the floor of Congress calling out George W. Bush's torture program. It was Sanders in 2007 that called out the gross US violations of the Geneva Convention standards on torture in the use of waterboarding and enhanced interrogati...

By Scotty Reid - 2020 Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has oft been criticized in media targeting Black voters for a response he gave to a CNN host when told Sen. Elizabeth Warren supports reparations. Sanders correctly asked the CNN host well what do reparations mean exactly, what specific policy initiatives does Warren support. I recently wrote about a political cartoon targeting the Sanders campaign and Black voters published in August of 2019 that has possible foreign origins.
The Sanders campaign has recently been aggressively pushing back against the fake news narrative coming from mainstream media sources and from dark corners of the web on a number of issues.
The Baltimore based non-profit news outlet Real News Network recently spoke with the Sanders campaign's National Press Secretary Briahna Joy Gray for a segment where among many things, race and reparations were brought up and she was able to articulate clearly on where Sen. Bernard (Bernie) Sanders stands on the issue of reparations and economic justice.

An anti-Bernie Sanders political cartoon is being shared on social media that is very suspicious not simply for the misinformation about the Sanders platform but because the artist seems to be Ukranian.

Various mainstream outlets are engaged in a gaslighting campaign of those who are not willing to accept the official narrative that Jeffery Epstein committed suicide even though this early on in the investigation there is no evidence to support the assumption. Let's deconstruct these MSM narratives by using critical thinking and logical deduction.

Like, true sociopaths, right-wing snowflakes are faking outrage at Joaquin Castro for making the public donor information public in terms of people who have made max donations to Trump's political campaign. This is something the right-wing sociopaths have done and worse for years so pay no mind to the predictable attempts at distraction from the what is most important, Donald Trump's inciting white supremacist violence against non-white people.

BTR News - An association that says it represents over 14,000 current and former FBI agents, is claiming that the FBI needs additional legislation to fight "domestic terrorism". Consider the USA Patriot Act does just that, I surmise that they are making excuses as to why they have not been targeting, investigating and prosecuting white supremacists as terrorists. Is it because white supremacists are in the FBI? I think so.

BTR News - The media and leaders in Congress don't seem to be serious about impeaching Donald J. Trump or sending a strong message that the promotion of ideologies that incite people to violence will not be tolerated. Instead of hanging their hopes on impeaching over the tainted Russiagate conspiracy theory, why not impeach over what you can prove and that is that this President incites violence against people based on their race and nationalities which is discrimination against protected groups under the 64 Civil Rights Act, is a federal offense. The Florida Maga Bomber's defense attorneys cited Trump's influence on their client. The evidence is on video and written transcripts going back over the length of his term and when he was campaigning for office. The President has also retweeted anti-immigrant tweets from right-wingers and known white nationalists.

BTR News - Ruling Keeps Alive Mumia Abu-Jamal’s Lawsuit Over Hepatitis Drugs
The Facts and Key Points
News reports have been filed on the news wire reporting that a federal appeals court kept alive a lawsuit brought by Mumia Abu-Jamal, recognized the world over as a political prisoner wrongfully convicted of the 1981 killing of a Philidelphia cop serving in a police department rife with racism and known for brutality against non-white people.
Abu-Jamal's lawsuit alleges his rights were violated when he was denied hepatitis C drugs that are a known cure for the disease that is disproportionately high among prisoners across the United States. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower-court decision that Pennsylvania Corrections Department employees were not immune to being sued over their decisions regarding Abu-Jamal.
The three-judge federal panel ruled there are sufficient grounds to support his claim that his constitutional rights were violated when he was denied appropriate medical treatment for a nonmedical reason, the high cost of the drugs.
In November of 2018, the Pennsylvania's Corrections Department announced it was moving to settle a separate lawsuit by providing a prescription drug treatment regimen for prisoners who suffer from chronic hepatitis C infections which are disproportionately higher in prisons and once released back to the outside world, have the potential of spreading the infection among the general public.
What potential impact could the case have on potentially millions of prisoners and possibly former prisoners who contracted hepatitis C infections while incarcerated?

This BTR News Commentary focuses on the suspected racist panel CNN put together, all white women who identify as Republicans, to ask whether or not Donald Trump telling four non-white members of Congress to go back to where they came from is racist.
